Coulomb Force and a Spring

This simulation looks at the force between two charged particles by examining the compression of a spring attached to one of the particles.

Directions

The particle fixed to the spring is free to move in one dimension. The other particle is fixed in place.

The charge on both particles is identical and can be changed using the slider at the bottom.

The spring is placed such that if the charge were zero on the two particles the compression would be zero and the distance between the particles would be zero.
